What ethnic rhinoplasty is
Facial anatomy carries inheritance the way skin tone does. Noses common in African, Middle Eastern, Asian and Latin American faces often share certain traits: a low nasal bridge, a wide base and nostrils, thick skin and relatively little supporting bone. Ethnic rhinoplasty is the branch of nose surgery developed for exactly this anatomy.
The approach differs from a standard rhinoplasty. Rather than reducing the nose, the surgeon usually builds: the bridge is raised with the patient’s own cartilage, most often taken from the rib; the base is refined, and the tip is given definition the skin can hold. Patients who lost cartilage support in an earlier unsuccessful operation are treated within the same protocol.
The aim is never to erase where a face comes from. It is a nose in better proportion with your own features, breathing included.
What to expect at your first visit
Dr. Teker examines the structure of your nose and skin, discusses what you wish to change, and explains what grafting would be involved and why. Breathing is assessed alongside appearance: functional problems are common in this anatomy and are addressed as part of the same operation. You leave knowing the plan, the technique and the recovery it asks of you.

Will it change how my ethnicity looks?
The goal is harmony with your own face, not someone else’s nose. Dr. Teker plans the shape around your features and discusses it with you openly before anything is decided.
Where does the extra cartilage come from?
Usually from the patient’s own rib cartilage, which offers enough strong material to raise the bridge and support the tip. Dr. Teker explains what your nose would need at the examination.
